Pallet Deliveries over the Christmas Period.



The UPN network will close down over the Christmas Period. Last collection day before the Christmas break will be Friday the 21st. Please note these collections will NOT be delivered before Christmas, and will be attempted on Wednesday the 2nd January 2019. Please arrange collection prior to the 21st December for ALL goods required before the festive break. Pallets heading to Scotland will be delivered Thursday the 3rd of January as Scotland will as is usual have the extra Bank Holiday. Any questions please contact the Depot in Skipton.

General Data Protection Regulations.



On Friday the 25th of May the new GDPR take effect and Data Protection Act guidelines will be enhanced with the new GDPR rules.   As a responsible carrier we will this week be taking the necessary actions to comply with the new regulations. Clients will receive an e-mail asking for two minutes of their time to confirm -re confirm their agreement to our retaining data you have provided in order to fulfil our delivery and collection procedures. As of the 25th a privacy policy will be available to download.  All the details will be in the forthcoming e-mail.  Please take time out to respond.

Potential Disruption to Service.

17th May 2018


We are led to believe a certain function scheduled for Saturday will lead to some disruption of services on the morning of Saturday the 19th May.  Not only that, there is even a rehearsal on the Friday, which may also affect Friday deliveries around the West of London.  In Yorkshire here we just dont understand it. Why the disruption ?  .....................The Cup Finals never been much of a hassle previously !#####..



Only joking -yes, sorry the wedding may be an issue so please bear with us in and around this area.

Staff changes at Skipton.

We would like to welcome Joe and Chris to the team here in Skipton.  They joined the team this last week, Kevin has had to leave for personal reasons , hopefully he will be back with us soon, then Nick -who has been with the team, well, forever ! is set to move on soon. We wish Nick much success in his new position,


With summer (allegedly) approaching we will most likely be looking to add a further driver to the staff in Skipton, if someone with proven multi drop experience is looking for a change - contact our Ron Roberts at marketing@euro-tran.co.uk .


Easter Operating Schedule.

28th March 2018


The Skipton Depot will be closed the Friday (30th) and Monday (2nd of April) for the Easter break. We will collect (PARCELS) on Thursday for Tuesday delivery, however a SAT- AM service is available. The

PALLET Network will also close Friday and Monday but do not offer a Saturday option.  The depot will be open as usual on Saturday morning for customer collections.

Recruiting Van Drivers

Saturday the 10th of March


We are looking to recruit 2 delivery/sortation drivers at the Skipton depot. One driver we plan to help out with the morning sort then carry out some local deliveries. A second driver would carry out some local deliveries /collections then assist with the evening parcel sort . ( By Local deliveries we mean a part of the BD postal code.)


Both positions would be Mon - Fri with potentially a Saturday AM option. Hours would be 6am to 1pm and 12 noon to 7pm respectively. Longer hours may be available if required.


We have some flexibility but punctuality is key, Locally based staff would be preferential and previous multi drop experience within our industry is essential..

Landline Issue.

Monday 5th March 2018


Engineers have resolved the landline issue which was an internal system failure which we have been told could potentially re-occur as was probably caused by a power surge. This may have damaged the system and as such a new system is to be ordered. We apologise for any inconvenience it caused.


Adverse weather on Friday.

Monday 5th March 2018


The adverse weather on friday in the South/South West and Midlands led to many depots trunk vehicles not reaching the hub to either bring in or take out freight. Our Skipton depot trunks arrived back over a hundred consignments short, and in excess of 150 of our consignments sent to the hub remained on the dock there on Saturday morning. Apc head office arranged a contingency sort as the weather improved on Sunday and sorted a further 25,000 consignments. 31 trunk vehicles were despatched on Sunday to depots in the South/South West, but at close of sort some 550 cages of sorted freight was on dock at the hub which will be loaded onto additional trunks today and tonights vehicles. Hence a good deal of Fridays freight in the south is delayed some 24 hours. While the weather is much improved today we dont see the depots in some areas catching up on tuesday as we expect tonight to be a really busy night as businesses re-open after the cold spell.  We are doing our utmost to get back to normal.


The weather is set to improve greatly over the week ahead but again -flooding will be the next obstacle



Settle and Grassington Road closures.

We have received information that both Settle and Grassington roads are now closed to trffic from Skipton .  Essential services need best access and Police have asked people NOT TO

ATTEMPT to get through at this time.


Stray FM is also broadcasting this.


Weather/Service update.

1st of March 2018


As you will no doubt be aware from the National and Local News bulletins the weather around the country is in places some of the worst experienced in the past few years.  Locally we have had drivers unable to get their cars to the main roads to get in to work -some drivers have made a stirling effort to get any means of public transport running into work  - indeed one driver caught the train into Skipton and we despatched a second driver to pick him up from the station only to find the train stuck outside of Skipton - TWO drivers down...  The national picture varies too much to keep you up to date If your recipient dials the APC national number 0800 37 37 37 they will be transferred to their LOCAL DEPOT  - be patient lines are busy.  Locally our drivers are instructed ONLY TO DELIVER TO ADDRESSES WHERE THER IS LITTLE CHANCE OF BECOMING STUCK  - If they become stranded then other deliveries which could be made will be affected.  Please bear with us  - We are short staffed here because of the weather and the phones are rather hectic. IT IS TOUGH OUT THERE.





Adverse Weather. ####UPDATE####

Wednesday 28th February


A severe RED WEATHER ALERT has now been issued for the central belt of Scotland through till tomorrow we are informed depots in Scotland are suspending deliveries in due course - this both Parcel and Pallet Depots across a number of networks.



As you will no doubt be aware winter is refusing to go away - many areas around the country are affected by the adverse weather, too many for us to list, However within those areas it tends to be certain localised parts that depots are struggling in. On Tuesday the Skipton depot failed a few farm deliveries and the odd outlaying property, but in general we attempted almost all other deliveries -


If your recipient calls 0800 37 37 37 they will be directed to the LOCAL depot. They will of course require the consignment number to track the parcel and need to be calling from the delivery postcode.


The network will do its utmost to get the goods delivered.  --Thank You


The 'HORIZON' is upon us.

28th February 2018.


At close of business TODAY the 28th of February the Apc Network will cease to use the Net Despatch online booking platform. TOMORROW the 1st of March the online booking link on the website will connect to the new Apc Horizon platform.  Some 200 clients have been migrated over to the new platform but a handful of clients still use the Net Despatch system - You will not be able to access this platform from 1st March.  Anyone with a query on this please contact our Ron Roberts at the Skipton Depot to ensure continuation of the online booking facility.  Thank You.




Delivery Drivers - Storage - Pick and Pack.



We will shortly be looking to add a multi drop parcel delivery driver to our team.  Should anyone know of an experienced driver looking for a change please pass on our details.

2018 The Year ahead.



What will 2018 hold in store for us all. The uncertainty of Brexit remains.  It will no doubt be just,if not more challenging than 2017.  Here in Skipton its full steam ahead trying to migrate all clients over onto the new APC online booking platform as the Net Despatch platform comes to an end.


Only a handful of clients remain on the old system and the sooner we have all clients on the new Horizon programme then APC can get to work on the add on benefits the new programme will supposedly bring as the year progresses.  


As always we look forward to the challenges ahead.



2017 Draws to a close.

As 2017 draws to a close attention will turn to 2018. We wish all clients,past and present a happy new year.  We hope its a peaceful and above all a safe New Year...The team will be on hand January 2nd

Closing for Christmas.

22nd December


Well after one of the most difficult run ins to Christmas we have had in many a year we will be closing our doors at 11.30 tomorrow, Saturday 23rd December, and will re-open  them at 08.00am on Wednesday the 27th of December.


We are used to adverse weather around the country, especially here in the  Dales, but the few days snow impacting on hub operations was the worst in 7 years - while here in Skipton the snowplough was unused !  The hub issues resulted in freight held up for depots throughout the country -then when the weather improved the hub caught up quickly to their credit, but at the busiest time of the year depots found themselves inundated with not only the days freight but the backlog. As is usually the case some depots coped better than others. We hope everyone has been sorted for the Christmas deliveries and may I take this opportunity to thank all the clients of Euro-Tran Despatch/APC for their patience during that difficult week.


On behalf of all the staff here in Skipton -have a fantastic Christmas and New Year  we so look forward to 2018 and all the challenges that too will bring - I guess BREXIT  will continue to make the news.

Adverse Weather Update.

14th December 2017..


Todays update from central operations informs us that despite an afternoon additional sort on Wednesday and an extended evening sort some 300 cages of freight  were held at hub this

morning. The inclement weather meant traffic was diverted via the A5 to avoid jacknifed DHL trucks on the hub access road.


We are told todays operation and a planned friday night extension will clear any hub backlog. That will then filter through to depots.  It has however been a deadful week in certain areas,  Locally the weather has not been bad and we have been able to keep on top of all deliveries.  Elsewhere conditions have been dire.


We apologise for any inconvenience caused. All carriers are keen to clear the decks at this difficult time of the year APC are no exception. All will be working hard on the final Christmas push.

APC Christmas Schedule.



Part Time Staff Required.



Eurotran Despatch are looking for additional part time parcel sortation staff for the evening sort at the Skipton Depot. We also require part time collection drivers - the roles may be combined if suitable or required..


The evening sort is from 4pm to 7pm - Collections start around 3pm - 4 hours per day would be paid at £8.65 per hour.


The roles require some lifting but not excessive and would suit someone with enthusiasm, and time to spare. A clean licence would be an advantage if applying with driving in mind. We rely heavily on the team in place so reliability and a sense of humour are the attributes we are looking for.

These are long term positions and not just to cover the busy pre Christmas period.

APCs 'Expect' trials show promising early results.

Thursday 16th February.

Apc are currently trialling their 'Expect' 2 hour delivery window software. Its a great marketing tool but is not perfect and can be problematic in certain areas as has been proven by other carriers. Early stats are looking good. Over half of the drivers in the network are achieving in excess of 95% deliveries within the 2 hour predicted window. Locally our drivers are achieving some 93%. Carded, Premium, and close proximity drops all present gliches to the programme .  Hopefully these will continue to be minimised and the launch date will be released. 'Expect' is one of a number of APC software updates due to be implimented this year.

Turnover tops £100m at APC Overnight


Turnover has passed the £100m mark at national parcel delivery group APC Overnight in what the company has hailed as an "important year".

Newly filed results for the Alternative Parcels Company Ltd, which trades as APC Overnight, revealed revenues reached £102.3m in the year to 31 March 2016, up from £98.8m 12 months earlier.

Pre-tax profit dipped moderately to £2.3m from £2.4m.

A statement filed with the results said the business was "reshaped across key areas that ensure a solid foundation" for the future.  

During the year, the company bolstered its management teams in hub operations, network support, IT, line haul, business development and health and safety.

It also started a learning and talent programme to help develop the next generation of logistics managers.

More Extreme Weather hits the Uk.
22nd November

Storm Angus, the first of the season to hit the Uk has caused widespread flooding to parts of the Uk.


In the local Craven area many rural routes were only passable with care. Throughout the area roads were closed and it even affected some schools in the Skipton vacinity. Here at the Skipton depot the three outbound trunks were delayed by around 45 minutes on Monday evening . While the improved overnight weather has enabled us to catch up locally today. Many areas remain badly affected and this will have a knock on effect throughout the network. The forecast is for the weather to improve as we approach the end of the week.

Today brought the first snowfall of the season here in the Dales.  Not a significant amount but enough to remind us that winter is around the corner. Our drivers may feel a need to layer up !

£3 million investment puts courier company on a fast track to growth

A family-run business, which has been based in Cannock and the Black Country for half a century, is setting its sights on rapid growth, following a £3 million investment.

EDS Couriers, part of the UK’s largest independent courier company APC Overnight, was founded by Len Evans in the 1960s as a petrol station and workshop. Today, it is one of the region’s leading independent delivery companies.

The investment has allowed the company to double its capacity, moving onto a new 2.5 acre site in Heath Hayes, Cannock.

Current managing director, Andy Evans - son of founder Len Evans - attributes the company’s ongoing success in part to the decision to join the APC Overnight delivery network in 2003. He said: “Thanks to continued support and investment, in less than 13 years we have gone from working out of a two car garage to a 36 bay super depot with parking for around 60 vans, trucks and trailers.”

EDS Couriers continued growth has also been good for employment, with the company expanding from a workforce of 15 in 2003 to more than 100 employees, including 20 new positions in the last six months.

Andy said: “We’ve seen huge growth in the delivery market during recent years and this has allowed us to take on more staff. We’re achieving 30 per cent year on year growth at the moment and are continually looking for the best people to help us keep growing.”

Easter 2016.

Easter is now upon us and the Network is as usual exceptionally busy. Tuesday 22nd of March saw the Skipton depot experience the second busiest day ever.


The Skipton Depot, and the APC Network will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Normal services will resume on Tuesday the 29th March.  Goods despatched on Thursday 24th March will be for delivery Tuesday the 29th March.  (Saturday AM delivery remains an option.)


Changes to APC 'Limit of Liability.

As of the 1st May 2016 APC is simplifying its Limit of Liability in line with parcel industry standards, The most significant changes to occur are as follows.


PARCEL TRAFFIC  - Cover of up to £100 per consignment will apply. Regardless of weight. Claims will be processed with the same procedures as previously, and paid out on the lesser of cost/repair up to a maximum of £100


MAIL/COURIERPACKS -  As per above but with a maximum cost of repair/replacement value of £50.


EXCESS -  The previous £50 excess has been scrapped and will no longer apply.


INCREASED LIABILITY OPTION - This has now been reduced to £3.50p per additional £1,000 cover.


All invoices despatched 31st March 2016 will include this information, NEW APC terms and conditions including said changes will be available as a PDF download on this site nearer the date.

Is a BREXIT on the cards ?

As the 'should we stay' or 'should we leave' the EU debate hots up are any of us any wiser on pros and cons of membership?  When one sees on TV six MEPs.. and three think we should remain in the EU while three think we should leave - Yet ALL SIX are employed at the EU it beggars belief that we should be sufficiently qualifed to vote on the issue. Personally I am an 'In' person. BUT the best arguments on the vote come from the 'Out' brigade....confused am I !!!

Imminent traffic profile changes.

3rd June 2015.


APC hub continues to monitor traffic through the Cannock facility ahead of the Traffic Profile changes which are due to take effect on the night of the 15th June.


The changes involve all non beltable (Hand sort) freight. Changes to the XS (excess length) freight and the NC ( Non Compatible) dimensions will take effect that night.  All non compatible freight will incur a £2 handling surcharge per consignment, Maximum deadweight of any single parcel will be strictly set at 30 kgs and monitored for a 2 man lift - Such parcels MUST be no more than 30kgs, understated weights will result in the freight being decked and the customer will have to collect the parcel from APC hub. The maximum length acceptable will be 2.05mtrs and a Product Guide is available for download in pdf format.  A Freight Parameters Guide is likewise available in pdf format. Our Ron Roberts is communicating with clients likely to be affected.



Another Network closure.

We are saddend to hear that not long after the City Link failure it has been announced that Uk mail is to close down its 'UK Pallets' pallet network.  Euro-Tran Despatch was a long standing member of the Uk pallets network, Prior to moving to UPN two years ago. Indeed we were a founder member as we were members of the 'Weaver Pallet Express' network before it was purchased by Uk Mail and changed its name to Uk Pallets.  It would appear our industry faces challenges moving forward and we are fortunate in partnering both APC and UPN . Both having a strong presence in their respective industries.


Staffordshire delivery firm APC Overnight to offer 100 jobs to former City Link employees

Independent parcel delivery company APC Overnight is to make available up to 100 jobs to former City Link employees at its national sortation centre in Cannock.



The company said that there were potentially even more posts available throughout the company's UK network of 115 depots. The firm, which currently employs over 500 people in the West Midlands, made the offer following the news that more than 2,000 people could lose their jobs as a result of City Link going into administration. The news of City Link’s collapse leaked out on Christmas Day.

APC Overnight chief executive Karl Brown, said: ”This is an extremely difficult time for City Link staff members and their families. Following discussions with board members we’ve made the decision to prioritise City Link staff for the job vacancies we currently have on offer.

“We’re also making ourselves available to those small and medium sized independent businesses across the UK who have been left without a courier during the busy new year period."

APC Overnight, which was founded in 1994, has overseen 20 years of successive growth. The company attributes its success to its unique setup, being a network of more than 115 independent delivery companies.

AMAZON criteria change.

Amazons Dunfermline distribution depot have informed our local depot that as of immediate effect NO PARCELS WILL BE ACCEPTED THAT WEIGH OVER 15KGS. This policy will be strictly adhered to

Should you have such traffic it must be broken down to lighter parcels or be despatched via a pallet carrier. We are now informed Daventry have followed suit with this so it may be company policy across the board.  Depots booking goods in must now have 'ASN' no, and 'PO' no available, as well as no of units in a box, what the product is, and total no of units in delivery, otherwise goods will not be accepted. THIS IS AMAZON POLICY and NOT APC

Goods now despatched to these areas may suffer delay. One should also bear in mind Scotland have additional day of on Jan 2nd.

Due to adverse weather the following island services are suspended until further notice, Some drivers remain on the islands but may have to cut short deliveries as ferries are being cancelled at short notice.

YODEL suffering with 2 weeks to go..

Yodel are the first carrier to admit this year's spike in traffic due to online sales is causing them problems. They are halting collections until 'Black Fridays' backlog is cleared. A Three day delay

in collections however will itself create a further backlog. To date most of our depots are coping

well, with some exceptions, We only post this article in the hope that some customers may understand the pressure ON ALL CARRIERS this year in particular. If your delivery should be in an area under pressure we apologise, please bear with us through this extremely busy period.

Skipton Ford have supplied Vehicles to Euro-Tran Despatch since 1987...Last week the latest four arrivals appeared . While their commercial Vehicle operation has now moved to Keighley we still look to maintain the relationship with SKIPTON FORD.  The new vehicles will be added to the Keighley, Grassington, Bingley and Thornton runs... Further vehicles are on order.


APC Overnight set to increase its capacity.

Following six months of record-breaking growth, the UK’s largest privately owned next day parcel delivery firm, APC Overnight, is driving its business forward with plans to make a series of strategic investments, including the introduction of a new sortation system and its biggest ever trunking investment. The initiative will see the company install a brand new sky sorter at its Staffordshire headquarters. This follows a 20% increase in consignments and a circa 18% growth in turnover over the last 12 months.


APC Overnight’s investment in its bespoke national sortation centre in Staffordshire last year certainly paid dividends, as it enabled it to to significantly increase overnight capacity by over 50% – this figure set to be improved upon substantially when the new sky sorter is in operation. The company has also unveiled plans to add 45 new moving double-deck, curtain-sided trailers to its trunking fleet over the next three months – the firm’s biggest trunking investment to date, including the replacement of its van fleet.


The plans unveiled by APC Overnight are further backed by the company’s pledge to create 140 full time positions at its national sortation centre in Cannock, Staffordshire by the end of September. The new roles, which include warehouse operatives and forklift truck drivers, are expected to help the firm increase its turnover in excess of the 14% growth figure achieved in 2013.


Karl Brown, CEO at APC Overnight, commented: “Our investment in two new sky sortation systems, in addition to our biggest ever outlay in support of our trunking fleet, represents the latest of our strategic plans to meeting the growing demand for our services nationwide. An efficient operation at our national sortation centre is key to our ability to maintain exceptionally high service levels for our customers.

“Having grown so rapidly since our business was formed 20 years ago, it is important we continue to show the same levels of ambition as we did the very day APC Overnight was born. By continuing to invest in the operational side of our business, we aim to allow even more UK customers to take advantage of our wide range of delivery options.”






Tour de France Disruption.Posted 2nd July 2014.

Tour De France –The World’s Largest Annual Sporting Event



The Tour De France is classified as the world’s largest annual sporting event, with a global TV audience of 3.5 billion. Stages 1 and 2 of this year’s event will take place in Yorkshire, before Stage 3 begins in Cambridge moving through Essex towards London finishing on The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.


Over two of the three days, Saturday 5th and Monday 7th July we are anticipating severe operational issues and service disruption within a number of depot locations; with Monday being a full working day for both deliveries and collections this is expected to be the most affected day.


On each of the race days there will be major road closures commencing from as early as 04.00am remaining closed up to as late as 18.00pm, possibly later in the central London area.


The road closures are not only for the actual race routes themselves, there will also be significant closures for crowd control measures in the surrounding areas to accommodate the expected several million spectators along the routes over the three days.


Although the race will effectively take time to reach each of the affected areas there will be no access for vehicles within the designated closed roads.


Stage 1 Saturday 5th July 2014 – Leeds to Harrogate

Saturday service options throughout the affected and surrounding postcodes will be severely disrupted, if not totally unachievable in certain areas.


Stage 3 Monday 7th July 2014 – Cambridge through Essex finishing in central London.

As a standard working day severe disruption is anticipated throughout the day completing both deliveries and collections (PUR’s) in the more severely affected postcodes and surrounding areas.


The option for customers to collect from depots, is available, and worthy of consideration as a possible solution for customers in the severely affected postcodes. Telephone contact numbers on consignments would also assist.


All the depots affected will, of course, provide their best possible endeavours throughout the two difficult and challenging days. We would ask for your support and understanding as a network of the difficulties they will have to contend with.

June brings the 20th anniversary of the Apc network, from nothing to over a million  consignments a month.  The past few years have seen phenominal growth,  A big thank you to all the Apc depots nationwide who have helped us here in Skipton get to where we are today. Now we have to concentrate on what got us here in the first place - Great Customer Service and On time Delivery, Its a fact that while we remain at the top of the tree statistically we have struggled to sustain this growth - We have to focus on what got us here. Back to being THE BEST BA NONE...heres to another 20 years...

Easter Break.

Euro-Tran Despatch Depot will be closed Friday the 18th and Monday the 21st of April for the Easter break. Collections made on Thursday will be out for delivery on Tuesday the 22nd of April.


The Saturday delivery service remains unaffected, goods booked for a Saturday delivery will of course have to be collected Thursday.  If you require a Saturday delivery PLEASE provide a mobile phone number for the addressee, It really helps at the weekend when people invariably dont spend much time on site.  Thank you.  It just remains to be said we hope you all have a great Easter Break.


Weather Issues Throughout the UK.

While the weather so far this winter has been very kind to us with regard to Snow.  Flooding has affected many areas of the country and understandably affected service levels in parts.


Last nights gales were, for our night trunk drivers, frightening. Imagine you are driving a double deck trailer, over 16 foot high and being side swiped by some of the 100 mph gusts experienced around some parts of the country.  It was a white knuckle ride for many and thankfully most trunks arrived back safely albeit some a little late.


While much of the country slept these guys were out all night in horrendous conditions ensuring your parcels stood a chance of making their ultimate destinations.


Lets hope the South West in particular receives a bit of a respite, from the rain soon, otherwise its likely boats will be on the budgets of many depots in future years.


Please bear with us while these conditions prevail. We are doing our utmost to maintain the levels of service you expect.

So its back to business for the team, 2014 will no doubt

bring its challenges.  However we have just received our

first boost of the new year - reward for our endeavours in


The UPN Pallet Network, have rewarded us for our efforts in 2013 with a 'Service Delivery Excellence Award' .Its something we are customary to in the APC network, but is testimony to our efforts locally to provide the level of Service expected by UPN nationwide. Its good to see these networks monitor our endeavours in an effort to stay in front of the opposition.


Thanks for that UPN...We will keep up the good work.


Lets hope there are more to follow.

Its Christmas Eve day, 12.30pm, and we have cleared every parcel possible, just a few carded items remain here in the Skipton Depot. The staff are away for a well deserved two day break and a few unlucky souls will be re-opening the office on Friday the 27th December at 8am.  We hope all our clients, past present and future will have a fantastic Christmas and New Year. iPad mini Winner.

We have drawn the winner of the ipad mini Competition this morning -  and the lucky winner is a Melanie Burton.  Melanie is employed by Melrose Textiles in Allerton.  If Melanie would like to contact me on Monday I will arrange for the delivery of her mini ipad.


This has been our most successful competition to date in terms of number of entrants.  As such we have taken the decision to make the prize for our New Year competition - an ipad mini .

Christmas New Year Staffing.

APC set Records early on Christmas Run in

During the course of the first few days of December APC have set new weekly and consecutive Monday Parcel throughput records almost 20% up on the same period last year.


Online sales have obviously been behind much of the growth.  Its looking like there will be a further substantial jump in numbers as we get nearer the date, PLEASE ensure your despatches where possible contain mobile contact numbers for recipients, and where possible inform us if 'can be left with neighbour' every scrap of info you provide does help - thank you..







Competition Winner.

Our Autumn website competition has taken some time to come to closure.  Grahame Booth who is employed at  THE SKIPTON GROUP , was the winner and Grahame  collects paintings of local landscapes and favourite places, and as such decided to put the £250 prize to good effect. Our client ‘COLOUR ON CANVAS’ took on the task of taking the photo Grahame made in Grasmere 7 years ago and putting it onto canvas.  Grahame was delighted with the results, We’ll let Grahame tell the story – ‘We were staying at what was then The Waterside now called The Daffodil, the picture is from their grounds, celebrating our 36th Wedding Anniversary. so it’s quite a coincidence that the painting is now ready and it’s our 43rd wedding anniversary tomorrow. Consequently your painting will always remind us of the lovely celebration that we had that year’.  Well we think that’s fantastic and makes our competition all the more worthwhile for us...

MONDAY 23/12/2013. Normal collection service,However Goods for delivery Tuesday 24/12/2013 must be despatched on an AM delivery as depots do close at 2pm.  Goods despatched on a normal Nextday service may miss delivery so PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND..Many companies close early.

The first award of the evening goes to the Best New Cheese Retailer, and this year the judges were particularly impressed by the way The Courtyard Dairy showcases unique small farmhouse cheese-makers in Britain, and the depth of The Courtyard Dairy’s dedication to supplying only the highest-quality cheese, and only in perfect condition.
The Courtyard Dairy’s young managing partner, Andy Swinscoe, who is also their principle ‘affineur’ (cheese-refiner), was delighted to accept the award: “We aim to provide the public with a range of cheese that recognises the skill of the independent cheese-makers in Britain, and showcases the amazing quality and diversity that is available today,” he said.

Waste reduction targets achieved ahead of time

Recycling logoEuro-Tran Despatch have reached their Waste Reduction targets earlier than anticipated ‘We set mid-summer as a target to cut down on our commercial waste’ Dave Howson MD says.  ‘We now produce less trade waste than the average Uk household, The bulk of our waste is Paper,Card and Plastics which is compacted and passed on to recyclers, The Pallets some cans, and bottles etc,  are all either re-used or sent for recycling.

‘We feel it’s a real achievement’ Dave says, ‘We are very fortunate to operate in and around the Yorkshire Dales, and the environment is very important to us’.

 The company employs around 20 people, at two sites on Skipton’s Airedale Business Centre, and has a turnover in the region of £3m.

Conveyor photoEuro-Tran Despatch have commissioned Owens Conveyor company to install a new conveyor system into their Enterprise Depot in Skipton.  The system is aimed at reducing turnaround time on the evening sort.  ‘The number of parcels sorted between 5pm and 6.45 has increased by some 20% year on year and its set to continue’ MD Dave Howson says. "Owens Conveyors based in Walsall have undertaken a number of projects for APC Overnight and its depots."

Ford Transit vanEuro-Tran continues its long association with Skipton Ford and Mazda with the arrival of more APC liveried Transits. ‘Our very first vehicle was purchased from what was then Peter Clarke Autos in 1987’ Euro-tran MD Dave Howson says.  That’s set to continue with new arrivals expected in July from both Skipton Ford and Volkswagen.
